The Tri-town Junior Monarchs Pee-Wee Minor Selects had a great playoff run these past two weekends in the Granite State League, and the Seacoast League.
After two losses in the Granite State League (GSL) Playoffs, the Monarchs were off to a shaky start in the post-season, as they were eliminated from the GSL playoffs.
Last Sunday night (3/11/12), the Monarchs started their run in the Seacoast League Playoffs and suffered the 2-1 lost to the Concord Capitals.
The Monarchs then went on to defeat Back Bay 4-2 on Friday in Dover.
Then, yesterday, the Monarchs took the 6-5 victory over Mount Washington in the morning, and blanked Rochester 4-0 in the afternoon, advancing them to the Championship Game against the Concord Capitals.
THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME:
The Tri-town Junior Monarchs and the Pee-Wee Minor Selects battled against the Concord Capitals in a nail-biting matchup at the Rochester Arena.
The Monarchs and Capitals played a lot of back-and-forth play and the defense did a great job stopping most of the opportunities for the Capitals.
The Capitals got on the board first just minutes into the second to give them the 1-0 lead.
The Monarchs then answered in the third period when Cade Facey and Corey Shore set up Jackson Puzzo who lit the lamp to tie it at one.
At the end of the third period, things were still tied at one. We were going to over-time.
In over-time, the Capitals took advantage of a lucky-bounce off the face-off and got the breakaway which set them up with a shot out in front of the Monarchs net that won the game for the Capitals.
Nicholas Guarente was solid in net for the Monarchs throughout the post-season.
The Pee-Wee Minor Select Monarchs played a great season!
